It's All Mixed Up ~ Remembering the 80s

 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks 2024: Week 35 (ALL MIXED UP)

This week I had a personal realization. 

Much of my growing up was influenced by the music I listened to.

Many of my memories are triggered by hearing a song.

I also immediately think of songs when I hear different phrases.

Like this week's ALL MIXED UP prompt, I immediately remembered the song from THE CARS.

Take a listen - see if any memories are evoked for you.

My immediate memory was of babysitting for my aunt. 

She had 2 young children, an epic record collection, and a stereo that sounded awesome when it was turned up very loud. 

She was also the aunt who shared her clothes with me whenever I asked - even if she was currently wearing them. 

Our special relationship began when we were both pretty young - she was just 10 when she became an aunt.

Weren't we both soooo cute .. the adorable dog was Tiny.

A couple of weeks ago we were visiting my sister-in-law's farm, and the old photos came out.

I really loved these 2 gems:

Chris and his sister

Solidly in the same time frame that I was listening to The Cars

            - I have no doubt those 2 with their matching 80s hair were too.

I have heard tales of the two of them practicing their dance moves to the various songs they loved.

Watching them Karaoke to the song they frequently danced and sang to I have no doubt they were epic. 

It's too bad I couldn't share the video of them performing FLASHDANCE, WHAT A FEELING.

Just picture the two of them while watching the video .... they even included the water scenes. 

When a song takes you back to that moment in the past!!! 

This is why I search - 

Cause ... 

You can pick your friends, but you can't pick your family you know!
