52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks 2025: Week 41 (WATER)
One morning in 2011 Chris and I were alone. This didn't happen often because we had 2 teenagers who often had friends over.
This particular morning our youngest was away at Cadet Camp, and our oldest was away for training.
As we sat in silence I said "we should do something fun for our anniversary next year to celebrate 20 years together".
Chris said "We should go on an Alaskan Cruise".
I was surprised because we had never talked about taking a cruise before this conversation, but was agreeable.
As he headed off to bed (he was on night shifts), and I headed off to work he said "We will have to figure out how to plan a cruise".
I replied "We are reasonably intelligent, we can figure it out."
That evening I received a call from my brother who told me he and his wife were going on an Alaskan Cruise and wanted us to join them.
I replied that we would definitely join them since the dates matched our anniverary, and wrote down all the information.
I then called Chris saying that our cruise was planned.
He asked how I planned it.
I replied "Like in my childhood I let the smart one plan it".
My brother was always the smart one. He was reading before kindergarten so read to me for years (I was a late reader).
We had the best time.
We had so much fun we went again in 2019
This is why I search -
Cause ...
You can pick your friends, but you can't pick your family you know!
