This is my space to share my quest to collect as many broken branches as I can in my fractured family tree which resembles a bramble bush more then a proper tree. As I go forward in this blogging journey I hope to share how I have searched far & wide for family - with no regard for where they come from or if I should really want them.

High & Low ~ The Buchner Funnel

52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks 2022: Week 38 (HIGH AND LOW)

This week I am going to write about a possible relative.

When I first heard about the Büchner Funnel I realized odds were very good that this Bramble Bush intertwines back to the inventor Ernst Wilhelm Büchner.

Additionally looking at the face shape, nose, hairline, and brow of Ernst & his father  (Wilhelm) - there is no doubt they are related

My husband's ancestors originated from Unnau, Germany. Ernst was born in Pfungstadt, Germany. The two areas are not that far apart.

I have looked at this area of the tree many times over the past few years blogging in an attempt to write about the family connection to the Büchner Funnel. I have been unsuccessful in finding where the two family lines come together.

I decided to write about the Büchner Funnel this week even though I have no idea if the inventor is a relative.

The shared name intrigues me.

I have used Büchner Funnels in chemistry experiments in the past, but never knew what they were called.

The reason I decided this week was the week to focus on the Büchner Funnel was the amusement when several months back I found an article about their usage in the marijuana industry. I have no idea whey the ad showed up on my social media since I am not a proponent. I do live in British Columbia where it is legal so maybe that is why.

Now that I have written about it I am confident I will begin receiving more and more ads targeting a topic I have zero interest in outside of Genealogy!

But regardless how the ad ended up on my feed I fully giggled when I thought about the HIGH being obvious, and the LOW for the inventor to have his product being used in the drug industry.

Then again - what a HIGH - that his invention is still in everyday use well over 100 years later.

When you search BUCHNER FUNNEL & MARIJUANA there are pages and pages to click. I have included 2 in Sources below, but not the original article that sparked my interest to share this topic in my blog since I couldn't find it.

Let me introduce you to the relative we have not yet found our connection to:

Ernst Wilhelm Büchner
Birth: 18 March 1850 in Pfungstadt, Germany
Death: 25 April 1925 in Darmstadt, Germany

He was the son of:
Wilhelm Büchner & Elisabeth Wilhelmina Frederik

He married first, his cousin: Mathilda Büchner
and second: Marie Ludovike Karoline von Ferber

Having every confidence we will find the connection between two family lines at some point in the future.

Still looking!!!

This is why I search -

Cause ...
